What Is a Substance Abuse Hotline for IAFF Members?
Substance abuse hotlines for IAFF members serve as sources of information about addiction and recovery treatment for fire fighters, paramedics and the people who love them. The IAFF Center of Excellence’s substance abuse hotline offers around-the-clock support for addiction and co-occurring issues like PTSD, depression and anxiety.
When Should I Call a Substance Abuse Hotline
If you or an IAFF member you know is struggling with an addiction to prescription pills or illicit drugs, a substance abuse hotline for IAFF members can answer your questions and help you explore possible treatment options. In cases of immediate life-and-death situations involving drugs, call 911 immediately.

Is the Phone Call Private?
Yes. All calls on our substance abuse hotline for IAFF members are completely confidential. The information you disclose to our call center representatives will not be communicated to your co-workers, local fire station or loved ones unless you give us explicit permission to do so or choose to share it with them yourself. If you call on behalf of an IAFF member, we will not contact them unless you ask us to.
Can I Start Treatment When I Call?
Our primary goal at the IAFF Center of Excellence is to connect IAFF members to the comprehensive treatment they need for addiction and substance use. Because of this, those who are ready to enter into recovery can start the enrollment process at the IAFF Center of Excellence as soon as they call.
